Hey! As you may or may not know, I am OBSESSED with free skincare samples. It is the best way to try new products without spending a ton of money on an item. I bet you all have bought a full priced item based on reviews or a friend/sales associate's recommendation and you hate it. It's happened to all of us at least once! This is why samples are crucial if you want to buy smart. I have found that Sephora, Nordstrom's, and Macy's have the best assortment of samples per order. A helpful tip: When I run out of something I make sure to check these websites to see what samples are available. If I'm not interested in any at the time, I wait until I see something I can't pass up. There are different kinds of samples as well. There are small packets that you can get about 1 or 2 uses. The bigger packets can last about a week-you usually have to store it in a small snack bag to prevent drying. The "deluxe" samples you can use for maybe 2-3 weeks or so if you use it twice a day. These samples may come in small versions of the full size product. I decided to use the small packets for this round so I could get a jump start on reviewing! I will rate the products from 1-5 (1 the lowest and 5 the highest). Please don't forget I am not a skincare expert or an esthetician, just an enthusiast. The reviews are my opinion. Feel free to share your experience with these products. Also! To get an accurate rating of a product, you should use it for about 4 weeks. Since these are samples I can only give my initial review. Skincare Samples-Review Number 1! 1.Living Proof Satin Hair Serum $29 Sephora I was excited to try this product because this brand is very well known and has a lot of good feedback. Jennifer Aniston is a brand ambassador and has amazing hair, so I thought maybe mine would look amazing too! I opened the small packet and the scent was okay...It did not overpower me. The serum was a bit oily. After my shower I applied a small amount to my hands and ran it through the bottom half of my head, focusing on my ends. After letting my hair air dry, I blow dried to finish it off because on the packet it says "for best results blow dry," so I did. It left my hair feeling a tiny bit greasy, however my hair was very smooth and it was easier to curl my hair. Maybe I used too much serum? I would need to try it again before deciding if I would buy the full size. I would rate this a 3, not awesome but not terrible. 2. GLAMGLOW FLASHMUD Brightening Treatment (mask) $69 Sephora I love GLAMGLOW products so much and when I received 3 small packet samples of this new mask I was excited to try it! First I will say it smells so good like orange. I used the whole packet on my face, got distracted so I had it on for about 30 minutes instead of the 10 or less it recommends. I washed it off and my face was so red! I guess you could say my face was bright! I let my skin calm down a bit, redness went away and I put an oil free moisturizer on. Besides the redness, this made my skin appear more bright. Since I had 3 samples, I used another later in the week for about 5 minutes, still red but I liked how my skin looked refreshed. I have the last one still and I'm going to save it for the time being. Would I buy the full size? There is a possibility but my face doesn't really need the brightness at this time, so maybe in the future. I rate this a 4, solely because of the price. 3. Nude Skincare Detox Brightening Fizzy Powder Wash $42 Sephora When I saw this sample I thought it was so cool that it was a powder. You add water to the powder while it's in your hand and it turns into a creamy face wash. Very cool idea so you can save on the product but let me just say it smelt horrible, in my opinion. Powder and cream. Have you ever smelt protein powder? Imagine that in front of your face and smelling like it for a majority or all of your day. I could not get past the smell and threw the sample out. I do think the powder is a cool idea but I would never ever purchase this product. I would rate this product a 1, based on the idea of going from a powder to cream, otherwise it would be a 0. 4. Kiehl's Double Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler $39 Nordstrom This product came in a small packet which was enough for one application. Washed my face with a normal face wash and used this afterwards. My skin felt very tight, it didn't smell like much either so I was fine with that. I put an oil free moisturizer on and went on with my day. It felt tight for a couple more hours but I could see a small difference on my forehead. People will say you're 25 you don't have wrinkles, blah, blah, blah but I do and I could notice that between my eyebrows it was very smooth where my wrinkles are. The downsides of this product are the tightness and the price for such a small amount of product. Assuming you would only use the product on significant wrinkles instead of your whole face. I would rate this a 3.5 because of those reasons. 5. Kiehl's Precision Lifting and Pore-Tightening Concentrate $64 Nordstrom Another small sample I received. I was interested in this product because my pores are large on my left cheek due to acne and oily skin. This product also didn't have a scent which was great and when I put it on after cleansing my skin, it felt tight like the above product. In about 30 minutes the tightness went away and I decided to take a look at my pores. No change, I know you can't see a miracle immediately but I was expecting something to help disguise them. I did notice a small lift on my forehead by my brows. I do not think I would try this product again. It was good but I think I could find something better. I would rate this a 3. Those are my reviews! I hope these help you if you are thinking about buying new products! If you currently use any of the items I listed above and feel differently I would love to hear from you since these were basically my first impressions. Have a great day!
Sincerely, Michelle.

Hi everyone, Merry Christmas!!! I'm so sorry I haven't blogged recently. My stomach has been getting upset more often and making new food creations was not in my radar. For Christmas I wanted to make something festive and sweet but not a cookie, although this recipe incorporates cookies. This recipe is a combination of all flavors and foods I CANNOT eat but I wanted to give my family a yummy treat. Red Velvet cake is usually most popular on Valentine's Day but Christmas colors are red and green. Why can't we use it now too?? Hope you all enjoy my dessert bars! You can substitute butter for margarine or a non-dairy butter, also you can use a gluten free cake mix. My family really liked these bars; they were sweet but not overpowering because of all the chocolate. Comment below if you made them!
Sincerely, Michelle. |
