Hey readers! I thought it was time to give you some reviews on beauty products that you might want to try this summer! Three of them are samples and one that I purchased about 2 weeks ago, and have been using regularly. I was an avid user of Murad’s Clarifying Toner and the last time I purchased it, the formula was different. They added witch hazel and it absolutely gave me dry patches all over my skin. It helped clear blemishes but I did not like having patchy skin because it became noticeable when I had makeup on. Below I will give you my reviews on the samples and the new toner I tried! Please note, these are my opinions and everyone’s skin is unique and may react different to the products. * Sol Theory: Use my code "lobrace20" to get 20% off of your first box. Use the code:JXJCX Summer Product Reviews 1. Tarte Tarteguard 30 Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 30 $12-$32 Sephora This is one of the samples that I received. I always have a hard time using SPF because it breaks my skin out and depending on the brand, I get hives. It’s extremely important to wear SPF during the summer because of how strong the UVA/UVB rays are when they hit the skin. I was impressed with the formula, most definitely. It was not greasy, smelled great- has hints of honeysuckle but it is not overpowering and bugs weren’t flying around me. I used it on my face and chest, which are the areas that burn the most on me. I did not burn at all!! I have very fair skin and tan easily except on those areas I mentioned previously. I would consider buying this sunscreen for my face and chest but stick to regular drugstore SPF for tanning. I would rate this a 4. 2. Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate $46-$72 Kiehl’s This sample intrigued me since my skin has been so dry recently. I’m not usually a fan of oils because no matter how dry my skin is, the oil just sits on top and does sink in. It smells great like ginger. I love ginger; it’s so good for you. With that being said, I loved the scent but it didn’t do anything for me. I didn’t break out, my skin didn’t look brighter; it just laid on my skin. I do think that this product will work better for people in the cooler months and for the summer stick to another type of serum/treatment. I would rate this a 2. 3. Mario Badescu Special Cucumber Lotion $15 Nordstrom I purchased the full size without any prior trial period of this product. A friend recommended this brand to me for acne products. I don’t know the exact products she uses because our skin concerns are not the same. On the Mario Badescu site you and take a quiz to get a regimen however I was given toners that don’t work for my concerns. It was very strange! Also they call toners lotions, so at first I was confused. This product has alcohol. It has such a strong scent of alcohol when you apply it. I don’t like using witch hazel or alcohol because I feel like it’ll strip your skin. I do a lot of research on skincare because I think it’s important to know the ingredients and how “safe” they are to put on your body. It has not reduced any acne, but it does keep my skin semi-hydrated. It is not patchy like using the Murad toner. It does make my pores appear smaller as well. I think once this runs out I will look into another Mario Badescu toner because I think it’s an affordable, reputable brand. As of now I rate this a 3. 4. Clé de Peau Beauté Body Exfoliator $85 Nordstrom I have had this sample since Christmas but I was holding off on it because it’s so expensive! What if I liked it and wanted to buy it?! $85 is ridiculous for a body exfoliator. I use a normal sugar scrub from the drugstore that smells amazing, but this one smelt like perfume. It was so silky and the granules were so so tiny that it gave the skin a gentle exfoliation. It worked 10x better than my usual exfoliator. The combination of the silk powder and diamond powder make your skin refreshed and bright. I would totally buy this if it was cheaper. The $85 bottle is 7.4 ounces so maybe it’s not that crazy after all if you only exfoliate once a week. I would rate this a 4. Thank you for reading my reviews on these summer products! Make sure to wear SPF if you are in the sun!! Check medications that you take to validate if you are hypersensitive to sunlight, also foods can make you burn faster as well. Topical acne medications, retinal and acids that you use on your face will also make your skin sensitive. Be careful all you beauty lovers! Hi Readers, This is my first time creating a favorites video and writing about it in this blog. I love everything that I will be mentioning. I have links, pictures, everything that you need to see why it's my favorite of the month. As I was recording the video, the UPS guy came and delivered some items, so I turned the second half of the video into a haul. Hope you like what I have to say and let me know if you like these items as well!! * Sol Theory: Use my code "lobrace20" to get 20% off of your first box. It's a monthly sunglasses subscription box company. Starts at only $12/month! ***Website is currently under construction :( I will let you know when it's up and running again! *Ipsy: https://www.ipsy.com/new?cid=p_share_ref&sid=link&refer=xp3nz *Birchbox:https://www.birchbox.com/invite/mlwtx *Poshmark: If you download the Poshmark app, an app where you can buy and sell new and used items, you can get $10 towards your first purchase! Use the code:JXJCX May Favorites & Mini Haul Favorites 1. Becca X Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette $52 Sephora (Will be in stores June 16th) Blush: Pamplemousse, Amaretto, Rosé Spritz Highlighter: Champagne Pop, Prosecco Pop I love ALL of these colors they are so beautiful! The pigment is incredible. You only need a tiny bit on your brush to complete your look. Pamplemousse is a matte rosy pink, Amaretto is a matte brown; Terra-cotta shade, Rosé Spritz is a shimmery medium pink. Those are all blushes. My favorite blush is Rosé Spritz. It gives you a nice glow if you don't want to highlight your face. I have contoured with Amaretto because I have a fair complexion, it works really well! You should definitely give it a try. Champagne Pop is a rose gold highlighter and Prosecco Pop is a true gold highlight. I personally like the rose gold tint of Champagne Pop because I have Anastasia Beverly Hills So Hollywood, which is very similar to Prosecco Pop, in my opinion. I love this palette and would highly recommend it to anyone who can afford it. It's limited edition so buy it June 16th!!!! 2. micro.mini beautyblender $18 Sephora This is a great addition to my regular sized beauty blender. It fits in all the small places on your face like your eye or near your nose. I always forget to mention, make sure to wet your beauty blender with water and wring it out so it is damp. It is meant to have a bit of moisture! 3. Slmissglam Contour Brush- Site for kits here: Slmissglam I received this brush in my Ipsy May Glambag. The brush is so cute!! It's white with gold lettering and there are 2 rhinestones on the gold area where the bristles are attached. Also the hair? Is pink on top and white on the bottom which is adorable. I'm positive this brush has synthetic fibers. Feels great on the skin when applying products. I recommend looking into the kits because you cannot buy this brush separately from what I've figured out by looking online. 4. Kylie Cosmetics So Cute Gloss $15 Kylie Cosmetics I'm not a gloss person because my hair is so long and it always sticks to it!!! I was contemplating buying this after hearing how light the color is and that it only looks good on certain skin colors. I got it anyways and I find myself wearing it as my go to lip for everyday. I line my lip with a nude shade and fill in with gloss. I am very fair, Mac NC20, is dark for me but that is generally my shade. The gloss is darker than my skin so it looked really nice and natural on me. I don't like the application brush, I would prefer a wand like the liquid lipsticks for more precise application. It does not have the strong cupcake scent like the lipsticks and I like that. 5. Becca Backlight Priming Filter $38 Sephora I'm not a huge fan of luminous primers because of the texture of my skin on my cheeks but I have found a trick that works for me! I use a matte primer for my cheeks and use the luminous primer on the rest of my skin for the dewy look. This primer leaves a great sheen to the skin leaving it looking fresh and healthy. Smells nice and a little goes a long way! 6. Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation $44 Sephora I got this with the primer. I wasn't sure if I would like it because I heard mixed reviews for different skin types and that the color was a shade or so darker than what you would normally expect. I purchased this in Fair. It was too dark for me but I noticed as I applied with a brush and blending with a beauty blender, it melted into my skin as if it adapted to my skin color. It's very light and the packaging is very different. It comes in a dropper. You shake the bottle, twist and a little button pops up, you click it to fill the dropper with product and apply. The dropper only fills up 1/3 of the way. I need to use it 3 times to get the amount of coverage that I prefer. I have recently received so many sweet comments about how nice my skin looks. It is this foundation!!! If you are buying it, go a shade lighter than your skintone. Mini Haul 1. Morphe 35P Eyeshadow Palette $22.99 Morphe I LOVE the colors in this palette! Cool tones look so much better on my skin than warm tones. There are matte shades, shimmery shades, glittery shades. I'm so excited to try every single one. The brighter purples are a little much for me but I'm sure I can come up with a cool glam look for you all! 2. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater $7 Ulta I needed a new setting spray and I've seen everyone obsess over this for so long so I bought it. I don't like a rosy scent so I'm not sure why I purchased it. It does go away after it settles into the skin. I will let you know how I like this after a little while. 3. Benefit Air Patrol BB Cream Eyelid Primer $29 Sephora I liked this product because of the SPF. I think it's important to protect such a delicate area of the face from sun exposure. I wish I knew of this product earlier! It also claims to protect from pollutants and smoke which I also love. It is a eyelid primer and I did use it once. My eye shadow stayed on ALL day. I don't like the price but I will let you know if it's worth it in the long run! Thank you so much for watching my long video and reading about why I like these products and what I got in my haul!
